ABOUT ME

Welcome to my little piece of the blog world! This is my first post as a blogger, so I thought I would introduce myself.  My name is Laura Vázquez, I´m 28 and I´m Spanish, I have been teaching for the past 8 years (Kindergarten and 1st Grade) and I have loved every minute of it! Everyday in a kindergarten or first grade classroom brings new and exciting things.

About my Educational Background: I have a Bachelor's Degree in Enfant Education from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and also in English Teaching. I also have a Master's Degree in Atención Temprana (Speech Therapist) from the University of La Salle (Madrid, Spain).

I was so blessed to get a job as soon as I graduated teaching at a school that is about 10 minutes from my home! I work at Logos Nursery School, a bilingual school from Madrid (Spain), which incorporates English from the age of two on as a daily activity. From the age of 3 the students are incorporated into a process of total immersion in the English language, at 4 and 5 years old, pre-reading and pre-writing learning workshops are held in Spanish, with specialized teachers, but the rest of the contents, routines and everyday life at the school are carried out exclusively in English.  The learning method combines global comprehension, active participation, communication, phonics, comprehensive reading and written expression through multisensory, structured and playful activities. Last year, I was promoted to Curriculum Director and I am the Head of Years 3, 4& 5 and Tutor of 5th Year for my school corporation. Teaching kindergarten is truly my passion and I am happy to share it with my 5 years old students each year. I LOVE our project of linguistic immersion in English as students work full time in English!  I love phonics and also Montessory Method. I enjoy teaching English as a second language, which is why I went for the English/London theme with my blog design (thank you Blogs Fit for a Queen).

Aside from teaching, I love running, yoga, the beach and drinking Coca-cola. When I’m not involved with teaching and designing curriculum, I am off enjoying time with my family and friends. Here are some pictures of my crews and the last 3 years:
